Event Description Jean Isaacs San Diego Dance Theater is excited to team once again with the Metropolitan Transit System to celebrate this annual site-specific dance project. Each year "Trolley Dances" employs more than 50 San Diego dancers that travel from One American Plaza, the New Children's Museum and the new Hilton Bayfront with stops in between. Led by volunteer guides, audience members get on and off the trolley at specific stations to view the pieces, which are set in unexpected locations that respond to the physical environment of the specific site. Catch a ride! Tours begin every hour from the West Plaza of the County Administration Building, 1600 Pacific Highway, Downtown San Diego. Take Blue Line to the Little Italy/County stop.

Event Description Meet the artist Richard Gleaves on Saturday, September 25 at 2:00 p.m. and hear him discuss the concept behind his new installation. The talk is free with admission and free for OMA members. Refreshments will be provided. Experience the feeling of being underwater in a new installation by Richard Gleaves titled Liquid. Gleaves will fill the Parker Gallery with a floating 8-foot cube constructed from 19,000 feet of monofilament fishing line. The cube creates what the artist calls "a tactile field of simulated liquid" which abstractly represents both the visual and tactile properties of water. Viewers are encouraged to not just look at the artwork, but also to walk through it and under it to experience the sensation of liquid. Liquid will be on view in the OMA Parker Gallery August 21 through November 21, 2010.

Event Description We hope you can join us on Saturday, September 25 at 7pm for our first event of the season featuring Jennifer Karmin and John Pluecker. Jennifer Karmin’s text-sound epic, Aaaaaaaaaaalice, was published by Flim Forum Press in 2010. She curates the Red Rover Series and is co- founder of the public art group Anti Gravity Surprise. Her multidisciplinary projects have been presented at festivals, artist- run spaces, community centers, and on city streets across the U.S., Japan, and Kenya. A proud member of the Dusie Kollektiv, she is the author of the Dusie chapbook Evacuated: Disembodying Katrina. Walking Poem, a collaborative street project, is featured online at How2. In Chicago, Jennifer teaches creative writing to immigrants at Truman College and works as a Poet-in-Residence for the public schools. John Pluecker is a writer, interpreter and translator. His work has been published by journals and magazines in the U.S. and Mexico, including the Rio Grande Review, Picnic, Third Text and Literal. He has published five books in translation from the Spanish, including essays by a leading Mexican feminist, short stories from Ciudad Juárez and a police detective novel. A limited-run artist book, Routes into Texas, was published in early 2010.
