| Event Description |
Time is frozen and motion is arrested. A camera captures what was once life moving in all types of different directions. This is the concept behind “Arrested Motion,” an upcoming photography show at Bar Basic on November 2. The event, presented by Thumbprint Gallery, will showcase an exhibition of local photographers.
One of the featured photographers will be Christian Michaels, who has shown at various venues such as, Architecture, La Jolla Art Association Gallery, San Diego Art Institute, and Tres Gallery. Michaels spent his formative years in New York and began creating photography and graphics in 1982. He is also owner of Ray Street Studios in North Park, where he hosts various art, photography, modern dance, and film events.
Brittni Cute, another showcasing photographer, has shown in galleries all over the world, including New York, California, London, and Milan. Cute worked under acclaimed fine art photographer, Dan Williams, while studying at Ohio University. Her photography is heavily influenced by music and its different components. Cute creates abstract images with her photography in order to address the question, “How would a particular sound appear in visible form?”
Other featured photographers include Laron Lindsay, Leo Docuyanan, Laine Guerrero, Paul Burlingame, and Mariana Palafox. Also, DJs Windz One, drdiggs, and Johnny Tran will be spinning records. Local designers and vendors will be displaying their clothing and jewelry.
The show starts at 7pm and will run until 12am. Bar Basic is located at 410 Tenth Avenue in downtown. There is no cover.
