Everything is as simple as black and white. At least this will be the case in “Shades of Gray: A B&W Themed Art Show” on November 16 at Bar Basic. This group show, presented by Thumbprint Gallery, will feature artwork with black and white color schemes from San Diego artists.
The group exhibition will feature various local artists such as, Surge, who was recently featured at Thumbprint Gallery’s North Park venue. Surge’s paintings tell stories heard as a child or stories he experienced himself. Surge has shown his work in cities across the nation such as, Baltimore, Atlanta, Miami, and Dallas. The artist has also exhibited internationally in Mexico City and Australia. Surge has created art for three solo exhibitions and over 50 group shows.
Like Surge, Eric Wixon and Jack Stricker, were also featured in one of Thumbprint Gallery’s shows at its North Park venue and will be featured in the upcoming show at Bar Basic. Both artists have also graced the cover of past City Beat issues, while showing in various group shows presented by Thumbprint Gallery and other organizations.
Other artists that will be displaying at the upcoming show at Bar Basic are Monique Jenkins, Chris Larsen, Jeff Donndelinger, and Andre Power. Music will be provided by DJs Pokkey and Johnny Tran. Local designers and vendors will be on-hand, displaying their wares.
The event begins at 7pm and runs until 12am. As usual, there is no cover at Bar Basic events presented by Thumbprint Gallery. This event is open to the public who are 21 years of age or older.
