Thumbprint Gallery’s next author reading on November 20 will feature Danielle Smith and Shawn Rohrbach. Smith will be reading from her recently released fantasy novel Psyche. Rohrbach, who has held several past readings at Thumbprint Gallery, will read from his newly released novel, Cast the First Stone. Both authors are local San Diego-based writers and will have their works available for purchase and signing.
Danielle Smith
Smith’s novel focuses on Psyche, a young visual artist. Psyche is ready to give up all hope of artistic success until receiving word of a wealthy patron offering the commission of a lifetime. Little does she know that her mysterious benefactor is an ancient and evil being planning to use her creative power for his own wicked means. Along with Psyche, Smith will also have her erotica fantasy novel, Black Dog and Rebel Rose, available for purchase.
In addition to being a writer of urban fantasy stories she is an accomplished fine artist and illustrator whose visual work has appeared in various public, private, and gallery exhibitions and in national publications. She is currently working as an apprentice tattoo artist under the skilled tutelage of award winning tattooist Beth Emmerich of Tempest Tattoo.
Shawn Rohrbach
Rohrbach’s Cast the First Stone features Philip LaPont, an aspiring American cyclist who begins using illegal performance enhancing drugs. His cycle of shame intensifies when he accuses his own father of a heinous crime hoping to deflect attention from himself. In the end, his father is exonerated but Philip is not, he is just careful enough not to get caught. Along with his novel, Rohrbach will have other works for sale at the reading at Thumbprint Gallery.
After graduating from high school, Rohrbach began studying philosophy with Benedictine Monks of Westminster Abbey in Canada. After earning his BA in Philosophy, he traveled to Europe several times and immersed himself in amateur cycling. Rorhbach’s book Open Your Heart with Bicycling won the 2008 Indie Award for Sports and Fitness. His first novel Playing the Game was released in 2008. His collection of short stories was released in November 2009.
The reading at Thumbprint Gallery will begin at 6pm and will run until 8pm. There will be complimentary wine and appetizers served. Also, it will be a perfect opportunity to check out the art exhibition by Scott Saw and Nick McPherson. Thumbprint Gallery is located at 2637 University Ave. in North Park.
