Hera Hub, a spa-inspired work space for women is pleased to host an exclusive exhibition of paintings by artist Marsha Boston. The show, entitled “Root of the Matter” is a collection of watercolors and canvases that create a meditative, Zen-like quality, accentuating the atmosphere of the Hera Hub work environment.
The show opens on May 6th and will run through July. An artist reception for Marsha Boston will be held on Thursday, May 9th, from 6-8:30 pm at Hera Hub, 9710 Scranton Rd. #160, San Diego, CA 92121. (Across from Karl Strauss Brewery) Light snacks and wine will be offered and the event is open to the public.
Boston, an Escondido resident who earned her master's degree in fine arts from UCSD in 1983, focuses on botanical issues such as the medicinal properties and the cultural use of plants. In contrast, she also makes the influence of bio-engineering on our food plants a subject of her paintings. She said her work has evolved out of her concern over the uncertain realities of genetic engineering and the accelerated speed of human dominion over nature, as well as her reverence for the miraculous design of plants. With medicinal plants, Boston has found that watercolor is an ideal medium to express their unique character. As she said, "Watercolor works very beautifully because its transparency creates a sense of the invisible healing nature of the plants.”
This show may be viewed at Hera Hub on any week day from 9-5pm.
