The carnival-style film industry event is scheduled the same weekend as Comic Con to encourage crowds to shift from the convention into the East Village and help reduce some of the congestion that happens in the Gaslamp as crowds leave the convention center. FILM CON will include local film industry networking, pitches, visiting celebrity guests, local short films, cosplay awards, an art exhibition by Platt College students, Tr!ckster ‘owner created’ comic book exhibition and much, much more.

Opening Days Show opens Friday, July 19th
Event Description The focus of this exhibition is a thematic exploration of the object in landscapes. Investigations of the colors and compositions of both real and fictional landscapes, the expression of landscape as it relates to time, through both progress and decline, and the perception of landscape as mediated by the movement of the viewer are some of the themes presented through the work of three artists and their use of different media, including printmaking, painting, photography and video. The exhibition opening will include an interactive component, as printmaker Frol Boundin will be providing printmaking demonstrations in which visitors can learn about the printmaking process and participate in the creation of an original print (Demo will be from 4-6 pm). A selection of Lauren Greenwald’s video works will also be shown as large-scale projections.
