Event Description In this class, you will work with a wide variety of glass tiles, gems, stained glass, and ceramic tiles to create a 16” mosaic mandala. On day one, we’ll discuss color theory and palette, design possibilities and you’ll see samples of how to incorporate materials into a visually appealing piece. Glass cutting skills will be taught. You’ll learn how to use sticky mesh for laying out your design, and how and why to use Wedi board as a substrate. On day two, you will complete the design of your mandala, mix thinset mortar to set your piece on the wedi board and then mix, color, and apply your grout. At the end of day two your project will be complete and ready to hang.

Event Description The California Center for the Arts, Escondido is proud to present José Hugo Sánchez: Amoxtlis, on view June 6 through August 16, 2026. Through printmaking, sculpture, video, and mural, Sánchez explores image making traditions rooted in Mesoamerican codices while reflecting contemporary life along the U.S.–Mexico border. The exhibition brings together large scale installations and immersive works that examine cultural memory, migration, identity, and the movement of ideas across borders. At the center of the exhibition is Codex Tonalpohualli, a series of monumental printed banners inspired by the divinatory solar calendar and concepts of birth, renewal, and cyclical time. Opening Reception: Saturday, June 6, 2026 4–6 PM José Hugo Sánchez lives and works between Mexico and the United States. His multidisciplinary practice draws from pre Columbian codices, Chicano visual culture, and mass media to create a hybrid visual language shaped by contemporary border realities.

Event Description R.B. Stevenson Gallery is pleased to announce the exhibition, “WEST COAST VISIONS” by Los Angeles artists Charles Arnoldi, Jimi Gleason, and Astrid Preston. We cordially invite you to the opening reception on Saturday, June 6, from 5 to 8 p.m. Charles Arnoldi is an American artist born in Ohio and based in Los Angeles, California. Arnoldi’s work often incorporates natural materials like branches and plywood, creating intricate assemblages that evoke both architectural forms and elements of the natural world. Jimi Gleason is an American artist born in Newport Beach, California, and based in Los Angeles, California. These earlier iridescent paintings would come from Gleason’s foundational visual language, soft, glowing, iridescent. Astrid Preston is a Latvian American artist, born in Sweden and based in Los Angeles, who has long explored the natural world. Astrid's landscape paintings focus on the relationships between the constructed and natural environment.
