Event Description ARTSPLASH produces a popular annual arts and music festival. CHALK ART will come alive as dozens of mural artists create amazing, museum-quality street paintings. Families will also design and create their own chalk “paintings”, and enjoy more “hands on” activities such as rock stacking, stone sculpturing & many other children's art activities. ArtSplash is a free two-day innovative festival of the arts, food and fun, for the North County San Diego community. Centering on the colorful form of chalk art street painting, the event includes live performances, artist’s displays and demonstrations, and hands-on activities.

Event Description The Athenaeum’s will Erika and Fred Torri Artists’ Books Collection has some exciting new additions. The library now holds the complete collection of artist’s books by Ed Ruscha from the 1960s and 70s, the complete collection by Allen Ruppersberg, and a nearly complete collection by Ida Applebroog. Other recently added artists’ books are by John Baldessari, Hans-Peter Feldmann, and Allan Kaprow. There is also new work by local artists including Joyce Cutler-Shaw, Judith Christensen, and Al Rodriguez.

Event Description Brad Burkhart is excited to announce that several of his sculptures (one large format and one small) will be sold in a silent auction as part of the NAMI (National Association of the Mentally Ill) Inspiration Awards/Fundraiser Dinner this year held at the Catamaran Resort Hotel (3999 Mission Blvd. S.D., CA) on Friday October 2, 2009 from 5:30 to 9:30 P.M. Tickets for the gala dinner event are $75.00 at http://www.namisandiego.org. You are encouraged to attend and place bids on the work during the silent auction; however, if you cannot attend and would just like to bid on the art work, you can place bids until October 1 with Emy Alhambra . Bidding for the smaller piece entitled “Decoy of the Phoenix” will start at $200 and bidding on the larger piece entitled “Cradle of Innocence” will start at $400. You can see both of these sculptures in Gallery 3 on the sculptor's website: http://www.burkhart-sculptor.com. Should you be the lucky high bidder, Emy will notify you after October 2. She may also let you know if someone out bids you in the mean time. NAMI can accept both Visa and MasterCard in addition to cash or personal checks.
