Event Description Meet The Artist Stathis Orphanos Saturday, April 24 at 2:00 p.m. and hear him discuss the hurdles he overcame to create this exhibition, the respect he has for the Military and the humanitarian look inside Marine life. Meet the Artist is $5 and complimentary for OMA members. Stathis Orphanos has photographed many of today's top cultural and entertainment figures, including over one hundred authors such as Norman Mailer, John Updike, Gore Vidal, Graham Greene, and John Irving, and artists such as David Hockney and Elaine De Kooning. Born in 1940 to parents of Greek heritage he currently resides in Los Angeles, San Marcos, and at his home on the Greek island of Samos. His portraits have been internationally exhibited, seen on many book jackets, featured in Vogue, and Harper's Bazaar, and are now housed in UCLA’s Stathis Orphanos Photographic Archive at the University Research Library's Special Collections Department. Oceanside Museum of Art is located at 704 Pier View Way in downtown Oceanside within walking distance from the Oceanside Transit Center with Amtrak, Sprinter and NCTD Coaster stops. Oceanside, California is half an hour north of San Diego on the coast. Museum hours are Tuesday through Saturday, 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and Sunday 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. General admission is $8, seniors 65 and over $5, students and active military free. Event Description April’s Sight & Sound kicks off its third year as North Park’s preeminent monthly music & arts mini-festival. This April edition marks the official CD release party for rock band Republic of Letters. Also performing is rock act War Stories, the sweet acoustic melodies of Miss Erika Davies, and the one-woman electro act Smile Now Cry Later. AVicious will provide video projections behind the performances. Dr. Sketchy will host an interactive exhibition, allowing attendees to sketch beautiful burlesque models. There will be an art installation from Leafhouse Collective and massages. Exhibitors include free tickets to Belly-Up Tavern and delicious dinner from Bella’s Crepes. San Diego radio legend Steve West will emcee. Attendees must be at least 21 years old. Paid admission includes copy of Republic of Letters’ new album and one complimentary cocktail valid until 8:00 pm.
