Event Description In this series of paintings, Dina Bendeko explores the complex interaction between a male and female when they allow primal attraction to be the driving force in their relationship. Bedenko blends her love for film posters, fashion and pop culture on the canvas into images that are colorful, graphic and cheeky. Stereotypical sex symbols like the bull fighter and the mermaid are juxtaposed to create a narrative about desire, fantasy and passion. Using repetitive feminine and masculine symbols, Bendenko creates sexual tension that continues from canvas to canvas like pages in a story.
