Event Description

Distinction and ArtHatch are pleased to present Major Morris “Urbana”. A stunning display of black and white photographs by ninety-year-old Morris, many of which have never been printed. The exhibit will open at the gallery on December 10th, from 6-10 pm and will be on display through January 7, 2012. Morris will be present for a meet and greet. In addition we will have dancers from Orange Glen Dance Company performing in the gallery at 7pm and 8pm. This event will be highlighted with special discounts throughout our 14 studios and art supply store featuring over 30 local artists and beer compliments of Stone Brewery for those 21+. The exhibit will consist of 23 of Major’s most significant black and white photographs created over the past seventy years, primarily in the fifties and sixties, including many never before seen works and several exhibited large scale.

Space 4 Art Artists Display Work in Off-the-Wall Show Dec. 10 show, Antifreeze, is chance for public to snap up work inexpensively from some of San Diego’s most innovative artists WHAT: For the first time ever, Space 4 Art artists will sell their work off the walls of the studio’s galleries during Antifreeze. But guests won’t pay the typical prices for these experimental, elegant and/or ethereal works. During this one-night Space 4 Art fundraiser, the art will sell for $50, $100 and $150. The reception will include champagne, hors d’oeuvres, live classical music (early) and dancing to a DJ (later). Miho gastrotruck will be parked right out front. Additionally, the 35 artists who rent working and living spaces at the complex will have the doors of their studios open for all to see.

Event Description

"Don't Say We Didn't Warn You" is a look into a possible and perhaps inevitable future where hardship is constant, but the human spirit carries on. In imagining the future one only has to look towards past events. The Economic depression of the 1930s, in particular the Great Dust Bowl of the southern plains, was a tremendous calamity with ravaging economic and social consequences. It is also important to point out that of the transformed landscape was the result of mankind's misunderstanding of the environment. In this show Christopher Konecki and Keemowerks explore the irony and dark humor of human behavior. We destroy that which we need to survive. We see our resources dwindling and yet waist more. The artists have focused on the symbiotic relationship between mankind and nature. By drawing this connection they hope to entertain and enlighten audiences and to some extent do their respective parts to insure this future world never becomes reality. Opening on December 10 - 5pm-10pm.
