Michael Summers' "Pop Surrealist" paintings portray a crisp and colorful world, alive with nostalgia, splendor, playfulness and whimsy. By taking everyday objects and imagery and putting them in a new context, he encourages people to take another look at the world around them. After all, our everyday lives are filled with wonder, beauty, and magic, if only we allow our eyes to see it.

Event Description One Woman’s Journey explores the generational struggle for equality through a series of photographs Filsinger created for the Museum. The display of artifacts from the Museum’s historical collection alongside Filsinger’s moving photographs emphasizes the strides women have made over time. In her photography, Francine believes she is “not simply documenting a moment but I am living it...breathing it...entwining myself in it.” The combination of Filsinger’s past work with her two new series focusing on women provides the blunt truth, while not overwhelming the viewer.

Event Description 'Soil Blind', a collaborate work by artists Jeremy Gercke, Jonathan, and Dr. David Lipson, is displayed at the Test Plots garden on the campus of Woodbury School of Architecture. Over 100 ceramic modules filled with dirt and connected by cables suspend from a steel frame. Collectively, these pieces form a larger structure that mimics a blind for bird watching. Focused on the cycle of seed germination through flowering and back to seed, this artwork is placed to coincide with the spring season of new growth, insect pollination, and bird migration.
