Event Description

When artist Henry Asencio paints the female form, he instills the image with the divine spirit of his subject.
Asencio affirms the elegance, power, and humanity of women. He interprets emotion and uses abstract painting techniques to construct a chaotic world of color and texture within which the woman must rely upon her intrinsic faculties to find peace and order.
It is what Asencio calls “Solace in the Midst of Chaos,” his belief that women can and do take solace in their own godlike resilience to the chaos of the external world.

The Exhibit will run from August 10 - Sept 10, 2013. The Gallery will host a reception August 10, 7-10 PM. The artists, Kimberly Brooks, Anne-Elizabeth Sobieski, Kathleen Melian and Erica Ryan Stallones, predominant figure painters --but not in the strict tradition of portrait or academic studies-- depict characters which are defined as much by their pictorial environment as the very physicality and treatment of paint that defines their presence within the painting.
