Event Description This fall, OMA is dedicating its entire block of museum exhibitions in all five galleries to one central thematic topic: The Landscape. This Landscape exhibition block is the first of the Thematic Exhibitions Series which will address various important thematic subjects. OMA will celebrate the opening of the following exhibitions on November 16: Outside: Selections from the Doug Simay Collection (September 22, 2013-January 5, 2014) Nature Improved: San Diego Artists Interpret Our Landscape (October 26, 2013-February 23, 2014); Scape/Escape: Stephen Curry (November 9, 2013-January 26, 2014); Contemporary Landscape Photography: An International Perspective (November 9, 2013-February 9, 2014) and Urban Entropy: James Enos (November 16, 2013-February 2, 2014). The reception is complimentary for OMA and San Diego History Center members and $10 for nonmembers and includes an open bar and creative appetizers.

Event Description Working outside the lines of a singular practice, James Enos wears the role of artist, curator, social activist, educator, public programmer and more. Urban Entropy is an ornate record of work made during Enos’ time in graduate school from 2002- 2005 at The New School of Architecture and Design and from 2006- 2009 at The University of California San Diego, with the remainder of the works opening into the progression of his post-graduate school practice. Within his multi-disciplinary practice compiled of sculptures, drawings and socially programmable architectural structures, Enos discusses an often-invisible side of our landscape. Focusing on questions of civic identity and collective strategies for social change he gives a poignant critique of what he describes as urbanization’s fundamental aesthetic problems.

Event Description ALLISON WIESE • ROAD MOVIE Space 4 Art presents San Diego-based artist Allison Wiese's "Road Movie" opening November 16th from 7-10 pm, closing December 14th. The exhibit, based in sculpture and video, includes a tracking shot in extremis that reflects the last leg of a passage across the continental US. Alternately banal and sublime vistas are accompanied by sculptures that play with American myth in relation to raw and found materials. Both humorous and charged with place, Wiese's work has been exhibited throughout the United States at Machine Project in L.A., the Museum of Contemporary Art, San Diego and Socrates Sculpture Park in New York, among others.
