Event Description Anthony Davis, one of the nation’s foremost jazz-and-beyond pianists, presents a program exploring the relationship between musical expression and the visual image. As a pianist and composer, art has always inspired Davis. After viewing an exhibition of Kandinsky paintings in Munich, and feeling homesick while walking in an unexpected flurry of snow, Davis was inspired to create his piece Five Moods from an English Garden. The concert will feature Five Moods from an English Garden, Wayang Variations, as well as new works composed for this concert and inspired by the Museum’s upcoming exhibition, The Art of Music. This is the second concert in the monthly Art of Music Concert Series, presented in conjunction with the Museum's 2015 initiative The San Diego Museum of Art Celebrates 100 Years of Art in Balboa Park, and the centennial exhibition The Art of Music (opening September 2015).
