db Foster dramatically and unexpectedly became a full-time devoted life-long artist in his late 20’s after experiencing an artistic and creative “epiphany” in early 1986. The unleashing of Foster’s creative spirit completely dissolved his academic and professional aspirations to be an entrepreneur/inventor, and led him over the next 18 years to a simple life of daily art making, poetry, and philosophy.
For the past 30 years, db Foster has extensively pursued his artistic talents in nearly complete and pure isolation – intentionally abstaining from all professional exhibition and sales opportunities
Lecture is noon to 1 pm on Sept 1.

Cast your vote as the Night Owls presents Cast On!: Members’ Choice. Night Owls guests and members put their stamp on the Annual Juried Exhibition by voting for their favorite work of art from the popular exhibition featuring 44 works of art. Mingle with the 32 local artists in the show while you enjoy Stone Brewing Co. beer, specialty cocktails, and bites. Listen to eclectic tunes as the Songstruck DJ Drew Peters entwines songs as varied and energizing as the art. Michelle Montjoy, an Oceanside artist who has exhibited in past Athenaeum shows, will bring her Creative Catalyst grant project River. Party-goers are invited to cast on at oversized tabletop looms and spend time knitting giant forms which will become part of a future exhibition at Oceanside Museum of Art. This social practice brings people together at a table to mark time in stitches, share stories, and laugh. Come to the Night Owls to become both juror and artist in a night of diverse art and music. |

Ansarov’s new body of work, Rorschachum Natura, has recently become an international sensation. Created by gathering live Portuguese Man O’ War, photographing them on a homemade light table and then releasing them back to the beach, this collection of new art was made over the period of several years, countless visits to the beach and the humane capture and release of thousands of these majestic creatures. |

The San Diego Watercolor Society
presents “Art Deconstructed”
Experimental Art exhibition juried by Jennifer Littleton. As founder of Littleton Art School in 1999, Littleton is an award winning artist and International Exhibitor as well as being a Signature Member of the Baltimore Watercolor Society.
The exhibit runs from September 1-September 23 at our Gallery in the ARTS DISTRICT Liberty Station.
The Opening Reception is Friday Sept. 2nd from 5-8 pm with great original art, wine, food and the fellowship of other art enthusiasts. Don’t miss one of only two experimental art exhibits held at SDWS each year.
The Gallery is open Weds-Sun, 10 am – 4 pm
and is free to the public.
Docent led tours upon request.
