Event Description All Natural presents seven artists who are working with natural materials or naturally occurring elements to create their finished pieces. Exploring the fringes of photography, sculpture and painting, and intersecting with notions of sustainability, the exhibition highlights ways that each individual extends beyond boundaries to produce provocative and experimental results. Event Description The Coopers introduce us to a new world filled with beauty in motion. Their sculptures not only draw you in, they ignite your imagination with the stunning shadows that they cast. These shadows create a multi-dimensional quality that breathes life into each sculpture. All the Coopers’ Shadow Sculptures are hand made using hand tools and techniques they have created. The Coopers’ Shadow Sculptures grace collections all over the world. The artists have gallery exhibitions and representation in such major art cities as New York City, Paris, London, Stockholm, Venice, Tel Aviv, and La Jolla. The Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County has three of their sculptures that simulate the skin of the fossilized skeletons of three different extinct marine mammals on permanent exhibit. The Coopers live and work in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

The UC San Diego Department of Visual Arts in collaboration with the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego presents "A Step Away: Artists from the MFA Program at UC San Diego, an exhibition of eleven graduating artists." Curated by Art History, Theory, and Criticism PhD alumna Lara Bullock and MCASD Assistant Curator Anthony Graham, "A Step Away" represents a wide range of interests, from investigations in material, surface, and form, to concerns with memory, labor, and the body. The artists in this exhibition are brought together through their time at UC San Diego and their work represents an exciting diversity of concerns and practices.
