Event Description |
Gloria Muriel, a native of Mexico and San Diego muralist, is known for her transcendental and supremely meditative painting practice. The artist, sometimes using the pseudonym “Glow”, derives her imagery from various mythologies to create stark portraits of wide-eyed figures floating in vibrant, organically-rendered environments. Drawing on her experience as a graphic designer, Gloria compels her viewers to step briefly out of their daily routines through mindful reflection by painting walls of contemplation that cause you to stop, look, and breathe.
Respira will be on display from October 1 until October 26 in conjunction with Grossmont College’s LatinX Heritage Month programming. On Saturday, October 6 from 10AM-4:30PM, Gloria will collaborate with Grossmont College Art Department’s Public Art class to create a large mural in the 200 Fine Arts Quad. Gloria will also give an artist talk on Tuesday, October 16 from 2:30-3:30 in Room 24-274. |
