Open your Hearts to North County Arts, October, 2018, organized by The North County Arts Network (NCAN), invites you to discover and enjoy all the rich and wonderful performing and visual arts offered in our north county from inland Fallbrook to Poway and from coastal Oceanside to La Jolla for the entire month of October. Open your Hearts to North County Arts launches at ArtWalk Carlsbad on Sat. Sept 22 from 11-6pm and Sun. Sept 23 from 10-5pm and will be holding a fundraiser at The Forum at Carlsbad’s Art Rhythm & Wine Festival on Sat. Oct 20 from 11am-7pm and Sun. Oct 21 from 11am-6pm. Both Art San Diego (Oct 18 to 21 in Del Mar) and the San Diego Visual Arts Network are media sponsors to highlight arts and culture from dozens or arts resources in our community listing their events on The North County Arts Network.

Event Description

The San Diego Watercolor Society presents the 38th International Exhibition featuring the very best of watermedia art from around the world. The exhibition is juried by award-winning artist John Salminen. The exhibit runs September 30th- October 30th2018 at our Art Gallery in The ARTS DISTRICT Liberty Station. The Opening Reception is Friday, October 5th from 5-8 pm with 95-100 original ready-to-hang paintings for sale, plus wine, food and the fellowship of other art enthusiasts. Event Description

Gloria Muriel, a native of Mexico and San Diego muralist, is known for her transcendental and supremely meditative painting practice. The artist, sometimes using the pseudonym “Glow”, derives her imagery from various mythologies to create stark portraits of wide-eyed figures floating in vibrant, organically-rendered environments. Drawing on her experience as a graphic designer, Gloria compels her viewers to step briefly out of their daily routines through mindful reflection by painting walls of contemplation that cause you to stop, look, and breathe. Respira will be on display from October 1 until October 26 in conjunction with Grossmont College’s LatinX Heritage Month programming. On Saturday, October 6 from 10AM-4:30PM, Gloria will collaborate with Grossmont College Art Department’s Public Art class to create a large mural in the 200 Fine Arts Quad. Gloria will also give an artist talk on Tuesday, October 16 from 2:30-3:30 in Room 24-274.
