Event Description |
Cornelia Feye’s series of lectures on female artists continues with a look at the 18th and 19th centuries. During the 18th Century three female painters emerged to achieve unprecedented critical and financial success: Angelica Kauffmann, Rosalba Carriera, and Elizabeth Vigée-Lebrun. They came from different countries and backgrounds, but they each were exceptionally accomplished portrait and genre painters. In the 19th century a great number of female artists worked in a wide range of subjects and styles. Among them were Rosa Bonheur, as well as Eva Gonzales, Berthe Morisot, and Mary Cassatt. |

Event Description |
Please join us on Tuesday, October 16th from 4-7M for the opening receptions of two new solo exhibitions coming to the Hyde Art Gallery - Gloria Muriel's "Respira" & Cheryl Tall's "Cirque de Luna".
The Hyde Art Gallery is thrilled to be presenting concurrent exhibitions of two innovative San Diego artists, following our annual Art Faculty and Staff Exhibition, which closes this Tuesday, September 18 at 6PM. Painter Gloria Muriel and ceramicist Cheryl Tall are each prolific in their own practice, producing large bodies of work that have been exhibited and collected nationally and internationally. Both are easily recognizable amongst the array of venerated San Diegan artists as a result of establishing unique visual languages. |
