Event Description |
The MexiCali Biennial proudly presents The Island of California, a pop-up dinner event to be held at the Armory Center for the Arts. Inspired by the great warrior and sailor, Queen Calafia, and the mythical island of California, the dinner will focus on fresh, sustainable seafood as well as plant-forward produce. Please join us for a three-course dinner and drinks with artists, curators and arts advocates for communal conversation in the Armory's community-based art studios.
The MexiCali Biennial is a non-profit contemporary visual and performing arts organization which focuses on the area encompassing California and Mexico as a region of aesthetic production. The organization is migratory in nature and showcases exhibitions on both sides of the California/Mexico border. The guest of honor for this event will be Mely Barragan, a Tijuana based artist whose multi-disciplinary work focuses on women and gender issues in contemporary society.
