In the early 1980s, she advanced the ideas and strategies proposed by the Pictures Generation Movement, taking her place among those artists who have helped to redefine photography. Her work hovers at the thresholds between object, event and image, between the real and the imaginary, received and emergent meanings, exploring emotional, cultural and physical relations to the world through photography, sculpture, assemblage, film, and installation.
