R. B. Stevenson Gallery is pleased to announce the exhibition "The Astronomer's Cabinet" by Arizona artist Robert D. Cocke. This exhibition will feature new paintings and will open to the public with a reception on Saturday April 13 from 5 - 8pm and will remain on view thru May 18th 2019.
Our lives are increasingly lived in a technological environment that isolates us from
what is fundamental and real. The "techno bubble" makes it easy to forget that we
are part of Nature, still surrounded by the age-old mysteries of life on this Earth.
In my paintings I am trying to create a small, parallel reality that is a kind of distillation of my thoughts and experiences in this world. I want my work to serve as a reminder that there is a bigger, deeper, and more awesome world out there beyond the urban, technological world that most of us inhabit day-to-day. Robert D. Cocke |
