She engages in a practice that is rooted in deep reflection and the lives lived outside of our own experience. Diving into the details of meaning and origins, Tuwaletstiwa’s work is about stories, considering how language, both visual and literary, build understanding and ultimately a road to healing, dealing with trauma, and finding beauty. Tuwaletstiwa’s medium centers around transition; clay becomes ceramic, sand transforms to glass, and objects come alive as she builds tools to deal with the sorrows and joys thrown on the path of life. |
