Opening reception Friday June 6 for recent UCSD MFA graduate in painting John Singletary. His work draws from an Eastern European influence while dealing with his African American heritage in a fever dream mise en scene.
Singletary is about to relocate to NYC to pursue his career, so this is a great send off and glimpse into the rising power of a UCSD MFA in Visual Arts. Oolong Gallery honors one MFA yearly and our last, sculptor Naomi Nadreau, followed the same direction heading to NY to assist for world famous artist Simone Leigh. |
