YOUTH SUMMER CAMP 2009 - FULL DAY (5 weeks)
Ages 6-12 (10% sibling discounts & scholarships available) / ONE TEEN WEEK for Ages 12 - 17
This summer, SDAD presents five week-long art workshops where kids can discover and imagine new ways to try their ideas with art. Our summer camps take place in the professional art studios of our North Park facility. Each weekly workshop includes two classes per day from 9:30 – 3:30pm. Week 1: July 13 - 17, 2009

Imagine making your own wearable art! We will explore bead stringing and design, polymer clay bead making and get creative with recycled materials.
Art Explorers: Painting

Explore the possibilities and unleash your creativity while experimenting with paints, different painting mediums and painting techniques while gathering inspiration from the master artists such as Picasso, Georgia O’Keefe and Seurat. The class promises to be fun and enlightening while we put to use acrylics, watercolors, watercolor pencils, pen and ink and Gyotaku fish printing!

Mixed Media Sculpture Goes Green!

Imagine the endless possibilities of creating unique sculpture through combining a variety of recycled and found objects. You learn about constructing sculpture, the principles of 3-D design and the environment while creating your very own one-of-a-kind sculptures!
Creative Movement and Dance Traditions At Eveoke Dance Theatre (2811-A University Ave, San Diego, CA 92104)
12:45 – 3:30pm
The world can also be discovered anew through dance! Work with teaching artists from Eveoke Dance Theatre to find and express your voice through creative movement. This summer students will journey around the world to discover different dance traditions and cultures. Eveoke always find the positive and the inspiring through true community-building. Student culminating performance is Friday July 24th at 2pm. You will leave the week with excitement and hope about what you can contribute to this world! (Students will be accompanied by an adult to the dance theatre and should be picked up at their location.)
Week 3: July 27 - 31, 2009 Y0911
SKATEBOARDS AND SHOE DESIGN - TEEN WEEK for Ages 12-17
9:30am-12:30pm $250 full day / $125 half day
In this class, teens will design their own skateboard deck and custom ked sneakers! Work with skateboard designers from Soul Ryde Inc. to create and unique and personalized skateboard. Then you will complete your look by designing your own pair of shoes. (May be taken by itself as a half-day camp

Comic Creations

Explore the process of creating characters and complete a finished comic page, from rough to inks. Learn character design, story boarding, page layout, expression and composition while putting together your very own comic.
Clay All The Way

Get your hands dirty with clay! Learn a variety of hand building and sculpture techniques and become familiar with clay and its properties through creating 3D objects and characters that will come alive. Projects vary from creating a pinch pot to capturing a creature in your imagination and transforming it into a magnificent clay sculpture!

Draw it All!

9:30am – 12:30pm $250 full day
Imagine the wonderful possibilities of creating unique drawings and sketching beautiful landscapes or capturing a funny moment. Learn to communicate with pictures as you explore line, shape, form, gesture, shading and value in black and white and color. Use nature, still life and self portraits as the subject matter while you explore the elements and concepts of drawing in this fun class.
Watercolor Painting

Move fast and spontaneously using a variety of watercolor techniques. Find new ways to express your creative imagination with this fun and versatile medium. Explore the world of watercolors!
