SWCA presents INTERVALS, an exhibition featuring paintings by Gene Davis, Kenneth Noland and Tim Bavington opening Friday, March 12, 2010, on view through Saturday, May 8, 2010.
The opening reception will take place in the gallery on Friday, March 12, 2010, from 6:00-8:00pm. The reception is free and open to the public.
INTERVALS explores the colorful work of Gene Davis, Kenneth Noland and Tim Bavington, all of whom depict bands of stripes that study color, rhythm and pattern. A number of the paintings refer to musical compositions, studying beats, melodies and moods conveyed by compositions by musicians that each artist took influence from. While Gene Davis and Kenneth Noland were prolific painters in the 1960's, the contemporary artist Tim Bavington carries forward the tradition brought upon by the work of Noland and Davis. |
