The San Diego Women Film Foundation’s mission is to empower young women through positive media. The Women Film Foundation exposes the public to film and promotes women filmmakers' work through an annual film festival, San Diego Girl Film Festival, and year round Film Screening Program. By educating high school girls on the technical and creative skills of filmmaking through Divas Direct: Film Workshops for Girls, the Women Film Foundation helps create the next generation of young women filmmakers.
Divas Direct: Film Workshops for Girls educates high school girls in San Diego on the technical and creative skills of filmmaking. Through the mentorship of local women filmmakers, the young women learn the technical skills of producing, filming and editing. The Film Foundation hopes to further develop the culture of women filmmakers by breaking female stereotypes, promoting young women into leadership roles and giving them experience in positions that lack female representation.
Currently, the Divas Direct program is being held at Epicentre: San Diego Regional Teen Center in Mira Mesa (8450 Mira Mesa Blvd.) on Tuesday afternoons form 3-5:30 p.m. This is open to all high school young women in San Diego to participate. |
