Mission Statement
or Service Southwestern Artists’ Association was founded in 1949. At present it has the largest membership in Spanish Village. We believe the arts are an important part in the life of a healthy community. Our mission is to establish and maintain a gallery that extends friendships and promotes knowledge amongst San Diego artists. Southwestern Artists’ Association’s Gallery 23 maintains an ever-evolving exhibit of original artwork every month from it’s juried membership of over 50 local artists. The Two-Artists Show and small Alcove Gallery are changed bi-monthly. The Gallery’s gift shop area contains handcrafted items such as jewelry, glasswork, basketry, scarves, tote bags, miniature paintings and gift cards. In the spring the Association holds it’s annual Juried Art Show (open to San Diego County artists) and it’s outdoor Art Festival in the fall. The first Monday of every month they conduct their membership meeting followed by an art demonstration, 10am to noon, which is free and open to the public. Prospective members are invited to attend our meeting to learn more about the benefits of becoming a member of Southwestern Artists’ Association. Southwestern Artists’ Association Open daily: 10am - 4:30pm DST and 10am - 4pm PST (Located in Spanish Village Art Center at Balboa Park) 1770 Village Place, San Diego, CA 92101 (619) 232-3522 |
