WALK WITH ARTIST’S EYES Initiative

The Walk with Artist’s Eyes initiative is an immersive educational project that has standard-aligned lesson plans. Through hands-on projects, guided inquiry, and artist-informed lesson plans, participant engage deeply with contemporary art while building meaningful connects to artists, galleries, museums and community spaces across the region. Rooted in the mission of the San Diego Visual Arts Network, this initiative connects and promotes visual artists while cultivating an inclusive, collaborative and thriving arts ecosystem throughout the San Diego region to and including Baja Norte.

Vision: to nurture a dynamic visual arts community that honors artists, engages diverse audience and enriches lives through creativity and critical dialogue.

Artist-Centered Practice: Artists are the foundation of every program. Curriculum and projects are developed in dialogue with exhibition artists to ensure authenticity, integrity and relevance.

Lifelong Learning: Intergenerational engagement, from students to seniors, foster mentorship, critical thinking a creative confidence at every stage of life.

Recognition and Collaboration : Programs celebrate excellence in the visual arts while building meaningful partnerships among educators, cultural institutions, and community organizations.

Inclusion and Accessibility: Education resources are designed to be adaptable, standards-aligned and accessible thus ensuring diverse voices are represented and art experiences are available to all.

Educational and Community Impact: The Education Plan supports recognition of excellence in the visual arts while strengthening community engagement across ages. Through immersive projects, lectures, panels, tours and downloadable free lesson plans, participants gain deeper understanding of artists’ work and it broader social, cultural and material contexts.

We continue with our programs highlighting the best of the best with our SD Art Prize. We have produced a variety of other programs including our ongoing, Business Scholarship for Emerging Artists at Mission Fed Art Walk which enable a free booth and mentoring marketing skills. We give featured event status to hundred of events a year, mention art professionals, art activist and art opportunities in our RAW column and post reports on dozens of art exhibitions in our Picked RAW Peeled blog. We now have an Ongoing Events page and a Virtual Events page besides our Upcoming Events page which also scrolls on our home page.

San Diego Visual Arts has positioned itself to be of optimum support for the visual arts community . with our. SD View Art Now, smart phone app which pin points local arts events from the San Diego Visual Arts Network calendar on a GPS map identifying the viewers position. . Our calendar is free and accesses the events in our directory of over 2600 visual arts resources. All of these projects are moving San Diego in the right direction for innovative economic growth..
